I agree they are ripoff. My local ACE dealer switched to them about 15 years ago.
Frequently their return bin, doesn't give you a ticket after you deposit a bottle, and you have to beg for your voucher. Today they only had 2 full bottles, and I was returning 3, so I told them just give me me the deposit back on the third. That's when I found out it's a scam.
I'm going to eat my $32 4 bottle deposit. It worth it because I finally switched to LaCrosse Water.
Free home delivery, and a $7 deposit. When I asked the General Manager if I get my deposit back when I discontinue service, she said "Of course". That's the kind of people i want to do business with. I spend a lot of money at ACE, and they lost my loyalty.
I'll price shop at the Big Box stores now. That's how businesses lose market share.
